The Great Depression
A stock market crash in New York becomes a decade of unemployment worldwide.
In October 1929 the New York exchange collapses, taking banks, savings and credit with it. American industrial output nearly halves and millions lose work. The crisis spreads worldwide. Roosevelt answers with the New Deal, while in Germany mass poverty feeds the Nazi rise to power in 1933.
