Tutankhamun
A boy pharaoh restores the old gods; his tomb will survive untouched for three thousand years.
He comes to the throne as a child, changes his name from Tutankhaten to Tutankhamun, leaves Akhetaten and brings the court back to Memphis and Thebes. He reigns less than ten years and dies in his teens; there is no heir, and the dynasty soon ends. In life he was among the least significant of Egypt's kings — but robbers never found his small tomb in the Valley of the Kings. When it was opened in 1922, five thousand objects were brought out of it, along with the golden mask that became the world's chief image of ancient Egypt.
