Nadab נדב

second king of Israel; killed at the siege of Gibbethon

Nadab son of Jeroboam reigned two years and held to his father's way. While Israel's army was besieging Gibbethon, a Philistine town, Baasha of the tribe of Issachar conspired against him and killed him at the walls (1 Kings 15:27).

Once king, Baasha struck down the whole house of Jeroboam, «leaving not a soul» — according to the word of the prophet Ahijah of Shiloh, spoken while Jeroboam still lived. So the north's first dynasty ended with its second king; in two hundred and forty years none would last more than four generations.
