Jehoash of Israel יהואש מלך ישראל

Jehoash reigned sixteen years. He came to the dying Elisha and wept over him with the words Elisha himself had once said of Elijah: «My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!» The prophet told him to shoot eastward through the window and to strike the ground with the arrows; he struck three times and stopped, and Elisha was angry: he should have struck five or six times, and Aram would have been finished — as it was, the victory would be threefold (2 Kings 13:14–19).

The second matter of his reign was the war with Amaziah king of Judah, who challenged him. The answer was a parable: a thistle sent to a cedar asking his daughter for its son, and a wild beast passed by and trampled the thistle. Judah was broken at Beth-Shemesh, four hundred cubits of Jerusalem's wall pulled down, and the Temple and palace stripped.
