Person
Zechariah זכריה מלך ישראל
king of Israel for six months; the last of the house of Jehu
Zechariah son of Jeroboam II reigned six months. Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against him and killed him «before the people» — openly, not in secret.
With this the word spoken to Jehu was fulfilled: «your sons to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel» (2 Kings 10:30). Zechariah was the fourth: Jehoahaz, Jehoash, Jeroboam, Zechariah. After him the north lived another forty years through five kings, four of whom came to power by murder.
